What is cloud computing?
using a network of remote services hosted on the internet to store, manage, and process data rather than a local server or computer.
What is On-Premise?
You own the physical server, meaning you are responsible for the management of this.
What are cloud providers?
They own the server and will manage it for you to use.
What are 4 common types of cloud services for IaaS?
Compute, Networking, Storage and Databases
What is Microsoft’s cloud service?
Azure
What are the benefits of cloud computing?
Cost-effective: pay for what you consume , Global—anywhere in the world , Secure: Cloud providers do this. Reliable—databackups, recovery, etc. Scalable: Increase or decrease resources based on demand. EDlastic: Automate during spikes , Current: always up tp date
What is SaaS?
Software as a Service - This is for customers. It is run and managed by the service provider. Examples are Gmail and Office 365
What is PaaS?
Platform as a Service - This is for developers. Focus on the deployment and management of your apps.
What is IaaS?
Infrastructure as a Service: This is for admins. Basic building blocks for cloud IT. Provide access to networking features, computers, and data storage.
What is a public cloud deployment model?
Everything is built on the cloud provider. Also known as Cloud-Native
What is a private cloud deployment model?
Everything is built on the company’s datacenters. Also known as on-premises.
What is a hybrid cloud deployment model?
Using both on-premises and a cloud service provider and will be linked between them.
What is cross-cloud?
using multiple cloud providers. These can be linked with Azure Arc
