Cloud Architect Terms Flashcards
What is the cloud?
The cloud is a network and data center that has been virtualized.
What migrates to the cloud?
Servers, storage, network, security environment and applications
Define WAN?
A large computer network that connects groups of computers over a large distance.
Define LAN
Stands for local area network, a confined geographical area used for local communication that provides high speed and low latency connectivity.
Guaranteed Bandwith
With a private line, the organization gets the full bandwidth it pays for.
What are the benefits of private lines???
Reliability- high reliability, and minimum downtime since the connection is dedicated solely to the organization.
Consistent Performance- low latency and minimal packet loss.
Security- because it’s not accessible to the public.
What is a Virtual private network?
Is a secure tunnel that allows access to organizations network over the internet. It creates a private and encrypted connection which secures the data.
How do you VPNs work when it comes to authentication and Encryption?
When a user or location connects to the vpn, it establishes an encrypted tunnel to the vpn server ensuring data connectivity.
How do VPN’s work when it comes to remote access and site to site?
VPNs support both remote access VPNs , where individual users connect to the network, and site to site VPNs, where networks connect to each other.
How do VPNs work when it comes to tunneling protocols?
VPNs use tunneling protocols like IPsec (Internet Protocol Security) to establish and maintain the encrypted tunnel.
What are the benefits of VPNs?
Cost effectiveness- they use existing internet infrastructure, which is more affordable.
Flexibility- VPNs enable remote users to connect to the central network from anywhere with an internet connection.
Easy setup
What does SDN stand for and what does it do?
Software Defined Networking, it separates the control plane from the data plane and it centralizes network management, which allows administrators to control and configure network devices using software applications.
How SDN works with centralized controller?
SDN relies on a centralized controller, which acts as the brain of the network.
How SDN work with network devices?
Network drives like routers and switches become “dumb” data forwarding devices that follow instructions from the controller.
How SDN works with programmability?
Administrators can configure and manage the entire network through software, simplifying network management and enabling automation.
