brought innovative techniques and skills which allowed Colchester’s textile industry to flourish and also brought about more employment with the development of ‘New Draperies’.

In the short term it provided business and trade with the new developments in fashion, but in the long term the new skills and innovative techniques were used throughout trade in Britain and massively contributed to the economy.
