before England did not have the skills to finish and dye cloth so it was shipped to holland to be sold on this system was interrupted by new draperies
brought innovative techniques and skills which allowed Colchester’s textile industry to flourish and also brought about more employment with the development of ‘New Draperies’.
short term and long term effects of new draperies
In the short term it provided business and trade with the new developments in fashion, but in the long term the new skills and innovative techniques were used throughout trade in Britain and massively contributed to the economy.
