What to do for Word Choice Questions
Look for words with different connotations e.g
- “smack” has connotations of not being that serious
- “strike” has connotations of strong violence and aggresion

- Identify Image
- Does it work
- Why is it effective
How to identify and answer Understanding Questions
Look out for words like "explain", "main points" or "line of thought" Answer doesn't need to be complex Summary: -Use your own words -Keep your answers concise - Try to work for all your marks
How to identify and answer an Analysis Question
Look out for words like “show how”, “the language of…” or “the effect of”
Often the question will help you understand where to focus your response

Look out for phrases like “how effective”, “to what extent”, “in your opinion” or “which passage did you find more”
