what is kypohis?
excessive curvature of the thoracic region
“hunchback” or “Dowager’s Hump”
what is lordosis?
anterior tilting of the pelvis with increased extension of the lumbar vertebrae
excessive secondary curve
“hollow back”
what is scoliosis?
abnormal lateral curvature accompanied with rotation of the vertebrae
what is Erb’s palsy?
damage to the upper parts of the brachial plexus
C5, C6, C7
presents with arm adducted and internally rotated, forearm extended. forearm extended and pronated
Erb’s vs Klumpke’s Palsy
Erb’s - increased angle between neck and shoulder, stretching or avulsion of upper ventral rami (C5, C6)
Klumpke’s - excessive upward pull of the limb, avulsion of lower ventral rami (C8, T1)
Klumpke’s Palsy
excessive upward pull of the limb, avulsion of lower ventral rami (C8, T1)
loss of carpi ulnaris and medial 1/2 of flexor digitorum profundus
sensory loss of medial hand and forearm and arm
cervical rib may be the underlying cause
