It’s not easy.

- It includes verbal and nonverbal exchange among the clinician and client.
- It’s designed to gather data for diagnosis and treatment.
It’s an entry point for many people.

A
Relationship among the clinician and the client.

What are the features of good interviewers?
A
- Doing it in the shortest time.
- Obtaining accurate information related to diagnosis as much as possible.
- Creating and being consistent with rapport.

What are the views that all clinicians should be able to watch?
Give the “married alcoholic woman” example
A
- Biological: Genetic contribution from the father.
- Dynamic: Overbearing husband resembles the alcoholic father.
- Social: Drinking is accepted in the friend circle.
- Behavioral: She associates drinking with relief.
Each is folded into the treatment plan.

In the first few moments of an initial interview you should:

- Create a comfortable environment.
- Indicate the form of interview (time, sorts of questions, etc.)
- Let the client know what information you need.

How to begin the relationship?
A
- No handshakes unless client wants to.
- Introduce yourself.
- Explain your status.
- Inform about the form of interview.
- No company unless necessary.
