Hallucinatory voices
Hearing of voices that do not exist. These voices are often negative in tone and can be in the form of a running commentary
Incoherent/irrelevant speech
Arises when an individual’s train of thought is disrupted. Speech becomes jumbled and meaningless. May include neologisms
Catatonic behaviour
Unusual body movements. May include odd postures, frozen immobility, uncontrolled limb movements.
Negative symptoms
Absence of behaviours that a ‘normal’ person has. May lack drive/ motivation or lacking emotion.
