It is a CHRONIC AUTO IMMUNE SYSTEMIC ILLNESS characterised by a SYMMETRICAL PERIPHERAL ARTHRITIS and other systemic features

one of the commonest chronic illnesses and may be associated with joint damage, disability and premature mortality
