Clinical Anatomy of foot Flashcards
Morton’s Neuroma
Compression of the common plantar n. in the third interspace.
What is Hammer Toe?
The proximal phalanx is hyperextended, the middle phalanx is plantarflexed and the distal phalanx is hyperextended.
What is the cause of Hammer Toe?
Weakness of the lumbricals and the interossei.
What is Claw Toes?
The hyperextension of the metatarsophalangeal joints and flexion of the distal interphalangeal joints.
What is Flexible Pes Planus?
The foot is fat when on the ground otherwise it is curved
What is Rigid Pes Planus?
The foot is flat when it is on the ground and when it is lifted.
What is the cause of rigid pes planus?
Bone Deformity
What is the cause of acquired pes planus?
Tibialis Posterior dysfunction.
Plantar calcaneonavicular ligament fails to support the head of the talus.
Medial Ankle Sprain
Eversion of the foot
Deltoid ligament tore
Lateral Ankle Sprain
Inversion of the foot
Ant. Talofibular and Calcaneofibular ligament tore
Cause of Superficial Fibular Nerve Entrapment
Chronic Ankle Sprain
Symptoms of Superficial Fibular Nerve entrapment
Pain in the lateral side of the leg and dorsum of the foot
Causes of foot drop
The common fibular nerve is damaged
Calcaneal Fracture
Due to hard fall onto the heel.
What is the cause of fracture of the talar neck?
Due to extreme dorsiflexion
