First Stage of Labor
The first stages refers to the interval between the onset of labor and full cervical dilation
Latent phase- Irregular contractions with dilations 0-3cm
Active phase- 4-7cm dilatation and contractions 5-8 min apart
Transition phase- Dilatation 8-10 cm. Contractions 1-2 min apart
Second Stage
The second stage of labor refers to the interval between full cervical dilatation (10 cm) and delivery of the infant.
Third Stage
The third stage of labor refers to the time from delivery of the baby to the separation and explosion of placenta
