Tachycardia
Elevated HR, above normal perimeters
Bradycardia
Decreased HR, below normal parameters
Tachypnea
Elevated respiratory rate
Hyperpnea
Abnormally deep and rapid breathing
Fever
Systemic illness resulting in elevation of the normal thermoregulatory set-point in the hypothalamus. Patient with a fever is said to be “febrile”.
Hyperthermia
Elevation of body temp above the normal hypothalamic set point due to the failure of the body’s heat dispensing mech.
Borborygmi
Normal gastrointestinal sounds (rumbling caused by moving gas) ausculted by stethoscope on abdomen.
Percussion
Method of medical diagnosis in which various areas of the body (thorax and sinuses) are tapped to determine by resonance the condition of the internal organ structures.
Ballotement
A palpatory tech for detecting or examining a floating object in the body
Succussion
The act or process of shaking violently, especially as a method of diagnosis to detect the presence of fluid ABS air in the body cavity
