Why is liapse used more than amylase in pancreatitis
A
Lipase levels remain elevated longer than amylase
Some evidence suggests lipase is more specific and sensitive
BOTH have non-pancreatitis related conditions that cause elevated levels i.e gall stones, intestinal obstruction

Glasgow (Imrie criteria)
- PANCREAS
- PO2<8
- Age >55
- Neutrophilia >15
- Calcium < 2
- Renal function - urea >16
- Enzymes - LDH >600, AST>200
- Albumin < 32

What does a Glasgow score of 3 represent
A
Severe pancreatitis - referral to ITUo
