causes of syncope (3 mnemonics)

A
  • HEAD: hypoxia, epilepsy, anxiety, dysfunctional brain stem (TIA)
  • HEART: heart attack, embolism, aortic blockage, rhythm disturbance, tachycardia
  • VESSELS: vasovagal, ectopic, situational, subclavian steel, ENT (thyroglossal n.), low systemic vascular resistance (drugs), sensitive carotid sinus
