- Temperatures are mild as it is near a warm ocean current and at a low altitude
- Near to sea ensures a small temperature range
- Rainfalls all year and increased by relief effects of coastal mountains
- Forests grow here because the soil is moist all year.

- Souther n has more rainfall than northern interior
- Gets less rain than Cape Town and George bc it’s the rain shadow of Cape Fold Mountains.
- It’s summer rains are from subtropical thunderstorms.
- Extreme summer temperatures, the rainwater evaporates
