Climate Change Flashcards
Complete the whole deck every geography lesson on the day.
What is the name given for a cooling period in Earth’s history?
Glacier.
What are the 4 natural causes of climate change?
- Orbital Theory,
- Volcanic Activity,
- Solar Activity,
- Asteroid Collision.
How has volcanic activity impacted upon earth’s climate in the past?
As because of the exploding volcano releases ash which traps the sunlight and thermal energy which warms up the earth.
What are 3 pieces of evidence for natural climate change?
- Ice core analyses.
- Tree ring analyses.
- Historical Records.
How do Historical records provide evidence for natural climate change?
They provide as we can look at old photos’, read old diary s’ or books and memorials’.
What is the greenhouse effect?
Where greenhouse gasses are in the atmosphere and they trap thermal energy/radiation which heats up the earth.
Give an example of a greenhouse gas.
Either;
Coal, Oil, or Gas.
Name at least 3 human activities that produce greenhouse gases and enhance the greenhouse effect.
- Cattle Ranching.
- Slash n’ burn.
- Factory Working.
What are 3 pieces of evidence for human-induced climate change?
- Ice sheets melt.
- Global Temperatures rise.
- Warming and rising oceans.
What are the two reasons for global sea levels rise?
- Ice Sheets melting.
- Thermal Expansion.
Identify at least 3 possible consequences of climate change.
- Cut Electricity.
- Droughts.
- Warming Oceans.
- Animals Dying.
Why is it difficult to make projections for how much sea levels could rise by?
First of all we do not know the full extent of the ocean, and it is hard to predict the rate of climate change and how fast it grows.
