Climate Change Flashcards
What is the greenhouse effect?
heat trapped close to Earth’s surface.
State 6 greenhouse gases-
•F gases
•methane
•sulphur dioxide
•carbon dioxide
•water vapour
•nitrogen Trifluoride
How is greenhouse gas produced by human activity?
Burning fossil fuels, cutting down trees ect
Describe global warming-
A phenomenon where the earth’s average temperature rises due to increased amounts of greenhouse gases.
What are 5 effects of global warming?
•rising sea levels
•warming oceans
•shrinking ice sheets
•extreme weather events
•ocean acidification
How has climate change effected animals and plants?
Animals: if the sea levels rise and the oceans warm, the ice sheets the polar bears stand on could melt leaving them stranded. Plants: if the organisms leave the coral reefs (bleaching) the coral dies.
