Q
Describe a maritime climate?
A
- Cool to moderate temperature with a low difference between the hottest and coldest months of the year.
- Rainfall is evenly spread throughout the year and is a moderating factor on temperature. Thus it is warm enough to ripen grapes into Autumn.
- Rainfall in spring and summer can affect flowering and fruit set as well as the health of the grape at harvest.

Q
Describe a Mediterranean climate?

- Low temperature difference between hottest and warmest months of the year but the summers tend to be warm and dry.
- The extra warmth and sunlight lead the wines to be fuller bodied with riper tannins, higher alcohol and lower acidity.
- Rainfall happens in winter.
- Drought can be a factor.
