Climate Flashcards
Look at notebook and flash cards in back for majority!
!!
What is a positive feedback loop
When something happens and in doing so causes itself to happen again more intensely
Give an example of a positive feedback loop
Melting permafrost in the artic tundra releases huge quantities of methane. As methane is a powerful greenhouse gas it causes even more warming which results in more permafrost melting and more methane being released
What is a carbon footprint
The best estimate we can get of the full climate change impact of something
How can we reduce our carbon footprint
Fly less
Try to get power/ electricity from solar panels
Buy less devices
Only buy locally sourced food
Give 5 examples that show earths climate is changing
Drought
Extreme heat
Ice melting
Oceans rising
Storms
What is net zero and how can it be achieved
A country reduces its emissions and takes as many greenhouse gases out the atmosphere as it puts in.
Planting trees or installing insulation
