Independent Clause
a clause that can stand by itself as a simple sentence
Subordinate/Dependant Clause
a clause that provides a sentence element with additional information, but cannot stand as a sentence
Noun Clause
a dependent clause that acts as a noun
Relative Clause
a subordinate clause that contains the element whose interpretation is provided by an expression on which the subordinate clause is dependent
Adverbial Clause
a dependent clause that functions as an adverb
