What is the definition of a mixture?
Mixtures are physical combinations of two or more elements and/or compounds.
What is the definition of a pure substance?
A pure substance is a form of matter that has a constant composition & properties that are constant throughout.
What are the 2 classes divided from pure substance?
Elements & compounds.
What is the definition of an element?
Any substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances by chemical processes.
What is the definition of a compound?
A substance made up of two or more elements combined.
What are the 2 classes derived from mixture?
Homogeneous & heterogeneous.
What is a Heterogeneous mixture?
A mixture in which the composition is not uniform throughout.
What is a homogeneous mixture?
A mixture in which the compostion is uniform throughout.
