Q

Factors predisposing to autoimmunity

A
  1. Genetic factors
Marked familial incidence ie hla gene
    Eg. HLA DR4- rheumatoid arthritis
    Hla b27- ankylosing spondilytis
  2. Hormonal factors- 90% occurs in women.
Oestrogen may activate autoreactive b cells that produce auto antibodies
  3. Env factors: bacteria like
    strep pyogens- rheumatic fever
    Campylobacter -guillian barre
    Borelia- lyme disease

Virus
hep b virus -multiple sclerosis
Hep c- mixed cryoglobinemia
Coxackie virus b 4- DM
“””””” B3 -myocarditis

Drugs procainamide predisposes SLE
