The environment is unpredictable and changes frequently

What is a closed skill and an example
The environment is predictable and unchanging so the performer doesn’t have to adapt when performing a skill as it’s the same every time

The size of the muscle groups used and the precision of the movement
What are gross skills and examples
Gross skills are performed using large muscle groups that involve a large range of movement that are not always precise.

What are fine skills and examples
Performed using smaller muscle groups and usually involve small range of movement which require high degree of hand-eye coordination and precision

What are self paced and externally paced skills determined by
The performers control over the timing of the action
What are self paced skills and examples
The performer controls when the action is executed and the speed at which the skill is performed.

What are externally paced skills and examples
The performer does not control when to start the skill or how fast it might be performed.

How clear the beginning middle and end of the skill are
What is a discrete skill and examples
They have a clear beginning and end. It can be repeated but they are single specific skills

Several discrete skills that are linked together in a specific order.
Gymnastics such as seat drop, pile and somersault on a trampoline
What is a continuous skill and examples
They have no clear beginning or end and often the end of one part of the skill is the start of the next.

How are high and low organisation skills determined
How easy it is to break the skill down into subroutines
What is a highly organised skill and examples
They cannot be easily broken down into parts because the skill is very quick and the subroutines merge quickly as a skill is performed.
