Court
Organ of the government belonging to the judicial department the function of which is the application of the laws to controversies brought before it as well as the public administration of justice.
Court of Law
Tribunals duly administering the laws of the land
Court of Equity/Conscience
Tribunals which rule according to the precepts of equity or justice.
Constitutional Court
Created by direct Constitutional provision
Statutory Court
Created by law, other than the Constitution
Abolishment of Courts
A Constitutional Court cannot be abolished, whereas a Statutory Court may be abolished by Congress.
Superior Court
Courts which have the power of review or supervision over lower courts
Inferior Court
Lower in rank than a superior court and is subject to the review and supervision of the superior court
Civil Court
Determines controversies between private persons
Criminal Court
Adjudicates offenses alleged to have been committed against the State
First Level Court
MeTC, MTCC, MCTC
Second Level Court
RTC
Third Level Court
