Classification Of Astigmatism Flashcards
Compound Hypermetropic Astigmatism
Both astigmatism foci lies posterior (behind) retina - both principal meridians are hypermetropic
Simple Hypermetropic Astigmatism
Focus of the most powerful principal meridian lies on the retina with the focus of the other principal meridian posterior to the retina
- one meridian is emmetropic and the other is Hypermetropic
Mixed Astigmatism
The astigmatic foci lie either side of the retina - one meridian is emmetropic and the other is Hypermetropic
Simple Myopic Astigmatism
Focus of the least powerful principal meridian lies on the retina with the focus of the other principal meridian lying anterior (in front) of the retina
- one meridian is emmetropic and the other is myopic
