Greek wars
Persian- Darius sent his army in, Darius was defeated and died, started classical period in Greece
Poloponessian Wars - Sparta wanted to take over and challenege athens, Athens was defeated, ended democracy in Athens, deaths and destruction.

A city-state in ancient Greece.
monarchy
A government in which power is in the hands of a single
person.
oligarchy
A government ruled by a few powerful people.
aristocracy
A government in which power is in the hands of a heredi-
tary ruling class of landowners or nobility.
democracy
A government controlled by its citizens, either directly or
through representatives.
tyranny
A government in which absolute power is vested in a single
ruler.

The early period of Greek history from 750-500 B.C.E. in
which techniques of government matured.
Classical Period
The period of Greek history from 500-338 B.C.E. when
philosophy, art, and drama flourished.
Hellenistic
A blend of Greek, Persian, Indian, and Egyptian cultures.
