classical conditioning Flashcards
unconditional stimulus
any stimulus that produces a natural unlearnt response (food)
neutral stimulus
a thing not associated with the uncondiitoned response (bell) does not naturally produce a behavioural response
unconditional response
any occurence that occurs natgurally without having to be learnt (salivating to food)
conditioned response
a new stimulus that has been associated with a UCS so that it now produces the same response on its own
conditioned response
behaviour elicited by the conditioned stimulus
extinction
if the conditioned stimulus is presented without the unconditioned stimulus then the conditioned response dies out (if bell was rang but no food showed up dog would stop salivating)
spontaneous recovary
if a response has been extinguished it could still appear randomly
generalisation
extension of the conditioned response from the original stimulus to simular stimuli
discrimination
the conditioned response is produced by only presentation of the original stimulus not simular ones
one trial learning
when condtitiioning occurs immediatly after
