intersectionality

A

overlapping social identities and the impact of holding multiple identities at the same time

  • -> people have multiple social identities and those don’t necessarily align, they could even collide
  • -> we are defined by these multiple social identities and the way they relate to each other

=> also explains how different forms of discrimination or inequality compound on each other
=> e.g. being discriminated because you’re a woman + black + gay
