Define ethnic cleansing
The systematic forced removal of ethnic, racial, or religious groups from a given area, with the intent of making the society ethnically homogeneous.
What was plan d?
A Zionist military plan executed during 1948.
Why did Israel believe that expelling/killing Palestinians was a good military strategy?
Effective war - effective strategy is to be decisive; by destroying them they secured a home and their independence/self-governance. They didn’t want pockets of enemies as they would be vulnerable to an attack.
Was plan d a military tactic or a government policy?
Israelis argue that plan d was a military tactic and not a government policy. Could be both.
What is implied with plan d?
Ulterior/unstated motive/agenda is implied. Whether there was a plan of ethnic cleansing that was designed ahead of time and then systemically implemented during the 1948 war.
