low income children have lower intakes of nutrients + minerals > weakened immune system > absence from school + lack of concentration in lesson
What did Wilkinson (1996) say about material deprivation?
for 10 year olds, the lower the social class the higher the rate of hyperactivity, anxiety + conductive disorders > negative teacher labelling
What did Blanden and Machin (2004) say about material deprivation?
low income children more likely to have ‘externalising’ behaviour
