Q

APPLICATION RATE RULES OF THUMB:
95 gpm Foam Line
You can effectively fight

A

Ten gallons of concentrate will last:

950 sq.ft. Hydrocarbon fire at 1% for 10 minutes

600 to 650 sq.ft. Water soluble fires at 3% for 3 to 3½ minutes

Q

Troubleshooting: Eductor will not pick up concentrate

A

Check that gpm (White Bumper=95gpm)
Check and adjust pump pressure 200PSI
Check the ball valve at the pick-up tube connection point to insure it is not stuck.
Check for the possibility of air leaks at the pick-up tube connection.

16
Q

Troubleshooting: Not achieving fire control

A
  • If fire splatters and spreads, consider the product water soluble and increase eduction rate to 3%
  • Fire may exceed capacity of exist hose lines. Increase number of lines deployed.
17
Q

Troubleshooting: Fire goes out but reignites

A

Foam blanket and vapor suppression is being disrupted
Water soluble materials may be breaking down foam blanket, re-apply foam at 3% concentration
Look for third dimension of fire. Foam will not extinguish a “falling” stream of fuel. Consider dual attack with dry chemical agents

18
Q

Always flush eductor for a minimum of _____ after use with clean water.

A

3 minutes

19
Q

Foam Concentrate Shelf Life – The manufacturer’s stated shelf life for the foam is _____ PROVIDED it is maintained in the sealed original container.

A

20 years

20
Q

NFPA_____ does not require annual testing of concentrate provided it is maintained in its original, sealed container

A

NFPA 11
