What is a Boundary?
-Framework around the therapeutic dyad that defines a set of roles for the participants in the therapeutic relationship.

A departure from commonly accepted practices that could potentially benefit clients
What is a boundary violation?
A serious breach that results in harm to clients and is therefore unethical

things to consider when bartering for services (4)
- Evaluate whether it puts you at risk of impaired professional judgement
- Determine the value of goods or services in a collaborative fashion
- Determine appropriate length of time for arrangement
- Document arrangement and consult with experienced colleagues or supervisors
Things to ask yourself in terms of gifts (5)
- What is the monetary value of the gift?
- What are the potential clinical implications of accepting or rejecting the gift?
- When in the professional relationship is the offering of a gift occurring?
- What are my motivations for accepting or rejecting a gift?
- What are the cultural implications of offering a gift
Risks of socializing with clients (4)
- Quality of service may be compromised
- Loss of objectivity
- Knowledgeable power difference
- Client may need to return for service
Addressing feelings of sexual attraction (6)
-Recognize when you’re experiencing these feelings
-monitor feelings and behaviour
