Class 12 - Central Dogma General Flashcards
Does not involve DNA
(DNA replication, transcription, translation)
translation
Involves DNA and uses both strands as templates

What amino acid would you expect a tRNA with the anticodon 5’ to 3’? (answer generally about process and think about direction)
It is conventional for the ANTIcodons in the nucleotide sequence to be reading from the 5’ to 3’ end. Notice how the chart has a 5’ section and 3’ section way to view it.
The ANTIcodon must be flipped to base pair with the codon. Take the sample codon and reverse the order (left to right direction)
anticodon - 5’-UAC-3’ would need be written as 3’-CAU-5’
Now find the complementary base pair of the new anticodon direction (using A:T and C:G pairing)
the codon is 5’-GUA-3’
look up the codon: amino acid is valine
What direction does RNA polymerase synthesize an RNA transcript?
5’ to 3’ direction
