Religion was a major cause in the English civil war.

Charles I was killed for high treason.

Marston Moor was the largest battle in the English Civil War. The Royalists were hit hard and lost the battle.
Who was responsible for the Civil War and why?
Charles the 2nd is to blame for the English Civil War. This is due to the fact that he tried to rule without the help of Parliament. The parliaments job was to help the King keep order of his country, Utd Charles pushes them away, only to come back for money. Therefore, Charles is to blame for the English Civil War.
What were the arguments for and against the execution of Charles I?
For: He took advice from people who he liked rather than from people who’s job it was to advise him
Against: He was the King of England, so he can’t be killed.
What happened after the Civil War?
The power that the king had was reduced greatly, Charles was killed and the fighting stopped. Parliament also got back into power, taking control once again of the army.
Why did some respect him and some didn’t?
Some didn’t like him because he punished Irish Catholic’s and accused them of being rebels.
However, some like him due to the fact that he led parliaments army.
