What is the story of Emmett Till?

A

A boy who visited his cousins in Mississippi. “Flirted” with a women named Carolyn Bryant. Days later he was kidnapped, tortured, and killed by her husband Roy Bryant and J. W. Milam. Medgar Evers (NAACP) helped the family with their case but they did not win. This was one event that brought attention to the civil rights movement.

A

1954, led to the Supreme Court ruling for desegregation in school.

The south disagrees and trys to stall this desegrigation.

Southern schools dont begin to desegrigate until around 10 yrs later.
