Civil rights
The rights enjoyed by a virtue of citizen ship in a particular nature. They include the right to free speech, to vote, equailty and before the law
Social darwinism
Was used to justify one group of people rulling another. They thought that some governments were better than others
Concept of social darwnism
Survival of the fittest lead to the protectionist policy because they belived it was right to re breed the aboriginals into a white society

Protection policy
Indegious people were seen as a weaker race so the government decided to “protect” them. It undermined the native australian culture
Assmilation
Encouraging indeginous communites to live and work like” white” austrlians
Human rights
The rights arise by virtue of being human. They are universal and include the right to life, education, protection and free expression
Segreation
By ways of controlling aboriginal culture the government excluded the coloured people from society. There was “colour bars” in most public places. This made it hard for blacks to find work and live equally
Intergation
Aboriginals experinced discrimination, inequality and lack of control of thier own lives
Stolen generations
From late 19th century to 1970 thousands of aboriginal children were removed from thier famlies
They were taken because the government thought they could live among the whites
Reconcilation
The policy where the human rights campaign acheived success for the stolen generation and thier land. Sorry day was introduced in 2008 by kevin rudd.
Wave hill walk off
The walk of in 1966 was a response to the gurindi pastoral worker s not getting paid enougj
