A

-Must be at least 18 years old and a British/Commonwealth or EU citizen.
-And must be at least 1 of these:
A registered voter for the area you wish to stand, lived in the local council for at least 12 months, worked in the local council for at least 12 months.

  • If you are employed by the local council in another role.
  • If you are currently bankrupt
  • If you have been sentenced 3 months or more in prison in the past 5 years.
  • If you have been disqualified under the Representation of the people Act 1983.

A

It’s is winner takes all, whoever gains the most votes in a constituency is elected to be their MP.
