Category 1 complaint?
Complaint alleging physical contact, excessive force, and/or criminal, racial, sexual, or immoral conduct. Also includes allege acts of dishonesty and/or falsification of documentation, or allegations of unethical conduct
Category II complaint?
Alleging verbal misconduct, nonverbal misconduct (not involving physical contact), and/or complaints regarding matters not related to employees conduct
Other complaints?
May contain category I or II allegations but also meet the definition of one of the following types of complaints as defined in this chapter:
- departmental complaint
- citation validity
- rescinded complaint
- frivolous complaint
Sustained?
Act or omission did occur and it is deemed improper
Unintentional error?
Act or omission did occurr and it is deemed improper, but was result of employees honest mistake
Undetermined/No finding?
Used only when evidence, or lack thereof, precludes investigator from making definitive judgement
Departmental?
Employees action are in full compliance with departmental policy and/or procedure, but polity or procedure itself is found to be erroneous or is cause of complainants concern
Exonerated?
Employee did not commit act or omission, or did commit the act and it is deemed to be proper or witching departmental policy
All complainants SHALL be acknowledged by correspondence within __ business days of departments notification
