Q

Briefly describe an open circulatory system

A

blood flows freely within the body cavity and makes direct contact with organs and tissue, no distinction between blood and interstitial fluid

13
Q

How does hemolymph move through an insects body?

A

Through a vessel from the heart to the abdomen. Pumped through “heart” chambers in the abdomen via ostia and muscle contractions. Nutrients and wastes are exchanged between hemolymph and “heart” cells. Hemolymph goes back into vessel to be elimated from the body

A

the septum

18
Q

What kind of valve is the valve that separates the right atrium and right ventricle? What is its name?

A

atrioventricular valve, the tricuspid valve
