What is the larynx?
The voice box.
What is the heart?
A hollow muscular organ that pumps blood.
What is the bronchi?
The passages that direct air into the lungs.
What is a vein?
A blood vessel that carries blood back to the heart
What is an artery?
A blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart.
What are the lungs?
The main organs in the respiratory system. They exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide.
What is the pharynx?
The throat.
What are the vocal chords?
Folds of connective tissue that stretch across the opening of the larynx.
What is hemoglobin?
A protein that contains iron and binds chemically to oxygen molecules.
What is the diaphragm?
A large, dome shaped muscle located beneath the ribs and lungs. It helps with breathing.
What is the atrium?
The upper chamber and blood receiving part of the heart.
What is the trachea?
The windpipe.
What is cilia?
Tiny, hairlike things on the outside of cells that move in a wavelike manner.
What is a capillary?
A tiny blood vessel where substances are exchanged between the blood and the body.
What are alveoli?
Tiny sacs of lung tissue that move gases between the air and blood.
