Circulatory system Flashcards
What is plasma?
is the liquid part of the brain. Water 90% (to carry blood cells to other body cells). The other 10% is Nutrients, hormone’s, chemicals and waste.
Blood how many litres do we have?
We have 6 liters of blood
How much plasma do we have?
55%
how many blood cells do we have?
45%
Erythrocytes
RBC
Leukocytes
WBC
Thrombocytes
Platelets
Red blood cells
These cells contain a special protein called hemoglobin (HGB). Hemoglobin binds with oxygen and transports it to the cells of the body.
These cells protect the body from infection and are colorless.
WBC
These are actually cell fragments. They are necessary for blood clotting.
Platelets
What is the heart?
The heart is a hollow, muscular organ that pumps blood through the
blood vessels to all the cells of the body. The heart is separated into
right and left sides. Each side of the heart contracts and relaxes
simultaneously
What is the circulatory system
Its the cardiovascular system, it is the bodys transportation system.
What are the 4 functions the circulatory system
- Blood carries nutrients, oxygen, and other substances to the cells throughout the body
- Blood removes waste products from the cells
- Regulates body temp (blood and blood vessels)
- The circ system also produces and carries cells that defend the body from disease causing micro organisms
Where are the heart valves located
between the atria and the ventricles
What are the heart valves purpose?
Allow blood to flow in only one direction, preventing it
from flowing back
Define Diastole
The resting phase; the heart chambers fill with blood.
Define Systole
is the working phase; blood is pumped through the blood vessels when the heart contracts
What is the average pulse rate for a person
60-100 BPM
Define Tachycardia
is between 60 and 100 beats per minute
Define Bradycardia
a is a slow heart rate, less than 60 beats per minute
When to report?
When the breathing is irregular, weak, thready
How many blood vessels do we have? and what are they ?
- arteries, veins, capillaries
What is Phlebitis
Inflammation of the veins, often occurs in the legs, often a bacterial infection, and can be caused by trauma
What is an Aneurysm
Localized n
