circulatory system Flashcards
what is it
The circulatory system is a system of blood vessels with a pump and valves to ensure one-way flow of blood
circulation in fish
they have 2 chambered hearts and a single circulation, for every circuit of the body ,the blood passes through the heart one
explain fish respiration
blood picks up oxygen in the gills, oxygenated blood flows directly from the gills to the rest of the body, deoxygenated blood flows back to the heart from the rest of the body, deoxygenated blood flows into the atrium, deoxygenated blood is pumped out the ventricle
circulatory system mammals
Mammals have a four-chambered heart and a double circulation, It has 2 separate circuits: the Pulmonary circuit and the Systemic circuit.
This means that for every one circuit of the body, the blood passes through the heart twice
right side and left side in mamaels
The right side of the heart receives deoxygenated blood from the body and pumps it to the lungs (the pulmonary circulation)
The left side of the heart receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it to the body (the systemic circulation),
esmplain mammal circulatory system
in the lungs, blood picks up the oxygen, oxygenated blood flos into th eleft atrium, oxygenated blood is pumped out the oleft ventricle, septum sparates oxygenated blood from deoxygenated blood, deoxygenated blood flows into the right atrium, deoxygenated blood is pumped out the ventricle,
adv of double circ
Allows the separation of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood in the body
It helps maintain a high blood pressure
