Circular Motion Flashcards
Angular displacement
Angle though which an object turns, usually measured in radians.
Angular velocity
Angular velocity is the rate of change of angular displacement of a radius joining the body to the centre of the circle.
Centripetal acceleration
Acceleration which is always perpendicular to the velocity and always acts towards the centre of the circular motion.
Frequency
Number of cycles per unit time.
Period
Time taken for one complete revolution.
Uniform circular motion
The motion of an object moving in a circular path at constant speed with constant angular velocity.
Centripetal force
The force providing the centripetal acceleration to enable a body or particle to travel a long a circular path.
The resultant force acting on an object moving in circular motion directed to the centre of circular motion.
