Circuits and Electricity Flashcards
What is a circuit?
A circuit is a complete path for electricity to flow without a break
What is current measured in?
Amps (A)
How many parts does an atom have?
Three (Proton, Neutron and Electron)
If there is high resistance what will the current be?
Small
If there is low resistance what will the current be?
Large
What is a Proton?
A positive electrical charge
What is a Neutron?
Neutral
What is an Electron?
A negative electrical charge
What is an Atom?
An atom is the building block of life, it makes up everything
How do Protons and Neutrons help electric current?
Protons and Neutrons are attracted to each other, because of this they travel from positive to negative
What dangers are present with electricity?
Shocks and death
Explosions and fire
Burns
What is a cell?
A cell is where electrical energy is stored
What do we measure current with?
An ammeter
This must be connected in series and should read the same at all points
What is current?
The amount of electricity flowing through a circuit
What is voltage?
This is the force of the current flowing through a circuit
It is measured in Volts (V)
