Circuits Flashcards
What is Kirchhoff’s junction rule?
The current into a junction equals the current leaving that junction
What is Kirchhoff’s loop rule?
The sum of the potential differences in a loop equals zero
What is a maxwell loop?
Each loop in a circuit has its own associated current. At each component the contribution from each adjacent current is added up
What is the charge of a charging RC circuit?
Q(t)=Q_final (1-exp(-t/RC))
What is the current of a charging RC circuit?
I(t)=ϵ exp(-t/RC)/R
What is the time constant for an RC circuit?
Time constant is τ which equals RC
τ is the typical time over which the capacitor charges up
What is the charge of a discharging RC circuit?
Q(t)=Q_0 exp(-t/RC)
What is the current of a discharging RC circuit?
I(t)=-Q_0 exp(-t/RC)/RC
