CIRCUITS Flashcards
what are the two types of circuit connections?
the two types of circuit connections are:
- series
- parallel
what does a switch do?
Switches are used to turn electric circuits ON and OFF and to switch electric circuits.
what does a resistor do?
A resistor is an electrical component that limits or regulates the flow of electrical current in an electronic circuit. Resistors can also be used to provide a specific voltage for an active device such as a transistor.
what is the difference between a series & parallel circuit?
in a series circuit, all components are connected end - to - end to form a single path for current flow.
in a parallel circuit, all components are connected across each other with exactly two electricity common nodes with the same voltage across each component.
what is a node?
a node is a point in a network or diagram at which lines or pathways intersect or branch.
do parallel circuits need more than one bulb?
yes
how many pathways does a series circuit have?
it has one pathway
how many pathways does a parallel circuit have?
a parallel circuit has more than one pathway
what cant an electric circuit pass through
insulators
why are voltmeters connected in parallel?
to measure the amount of voltage without disruption
are houses wired as parallel or series circuits?
houses are wired as parallel circuits.
