circuits Flashcards
what is a circuit
a system that provide a pathway for the flow of current
name and explain the two types of circuits
series - a circuit which provides only one pathway for the flow of current
parallel - a circuit which provides more than one pathway for the flow of current
SERIES CIRCUIT
what happens to voltage na current
current (I) stays the same at any point
voltage (V) divides in a series circuit
SERIES CIRCUIT
what happens when u add resistors in a series circuit
RT (total resistance) increases
therefore current (I) will DECREASE because
IT = VT/RT
(I)current is inversely proportional to resistance (R)
PARALLEL CIRCUITS
what happens to voltage na current
voltage (V) stays the same at any point
current (I) divides in a series circuit
PARALLEL CIRCUITS
what happens when u add resistors in a parallel circuit
RT (total resistance) DECREASEs
therefore current (I) will INCREASE because
(I)current is directly* proportional to resistance (R)
