Circuit devices Flashcards
What is a light dependent resistor?
An LDR is an resistor that is dependent on the intensity of light.
What happens to the resistance in bright light and darkness in an LDR?
In bright light, resistance falls
In darkness, the resistance is highest
What applications do LDRs have?
Automatic night lights,outdoor lighting,burglar detectors.
how is the resistance vs light intensity graph?
high in the dark low in the light
high at first and low last
What is a thermistor?
A thermistor is a temperature dependent resistor.
In a thermistor what happens to the resistance in hot and cold conditions?
In hot conditions, the resistance drops
In cold conditions, the resistance goes up
What useful temperature detectors do thermistors make?
Car engine temperature sensor,electronic thermostats.
