Circuit Flashcards
what is a series circuit
A circuit where the resistors are placed one after the other. ends do not connect to one another
what is a parallel circuit
a circuit where the resistors are placed across from one another
Resistor total in a parallel circuit
1/(1/r1 +1/r2)
Resistor total in a series circuit
r1 + r2
What is a capacitor
a device that stores electrical energy by holding electric charges on its two ends
how does a capacitor fill
exponetially
what are inductors
coils that store electrical energy in a magnetic field when current flows through it.
what is an RC circuit
a circuit that contains both a resistor and capacitance
what does a low and high curve on an RC circuit graph mean
low means it fills quickly. high mean it fills slowly
Rows of holes that are usually numbered with letters. how are they
Terminal Strips
how are terminal strips connected
horizontally
What are two advantages of circuit breakers over fuses
they last longer and can be tested
what are two advantages of fuses over circuit breakers
they are smaller and cheaper
