Circles, Pie, Pythagoras Theoreum, surface area Flashcards
What is a radius on a circle?
Half of the diameter
What is the diameter?
One side to another side of a circle
How do you find the circumference of a circle?
Pie X diameter
How do you find the area of a circle?
Pie X radius squared
How do you find the diameter of a circle?
Radius x2
How do you find the length of an arc?
Find circumference (pie X d) then divide by 360 and multiply by the angle
What is a sector?
A piece of a circle
How do you find an area of a sector?
Pie X radius X angle ➗180
How do you find the volume of a prism?
Area of cross section X length
How do u find the volume of cylinder?
Pie X radius squared X height
How do u find the surface area of a cylinder?
Pie X radius squared (top circle) add Pie X radius squared (bottom circle) Add Pie X diameter X height Basically Pie X diameter X height + 2 X pie X radius squared
Pythagoras theorem
A squared + b squared = c squared
The area of the smaller side ( eg the side is 5 cm it will now be 25 cm)
Added to the area of the other smaller side then square root it, the answer will be the same as the longer side ( hypotenuse). If it works the triangle is definitely a right angled triangle.
Pythagoras theorem: short sides
Hypotenuse squared - short side squared = other short side ( don’t forget to square root the answer)
C squared - b squared = a squared
