What is a circle ?
The collection of points which are at a fixed distance from a fixed point in the centre is called a circle
What is the radius of the circle
The fixed distance from the centre of the circle to the circumference is called the radius.
What is a chord ?
A line segment joining any two points of a circle is called a chord
What is the diameter
The chord that passes through the centre of the circle is called the diameter and its is equal to 2 times the radius
What is a arc ?
A piece of the circle between two points is called an arc.
What are the types of arcs ?
The major arc and the minor arc
What is a circumference ?
The length of the complete circle is called its
circumference
What is a segment ?
The region between a chord and either of its arcs is called a segment of the circle
What are the two types of segments ?
the major segment and the minor segment
What is a sector ?
The region between an arc and the
two radii, is called a sector
What are radii
They are staight line from the centre to the circumference of a circle
